tracy and angelo : post wedding

The final chapter of Tracy and Angelo took place under the Whitestone Bridge.
If you follow this blog you know that my favorite time to shoot is late in the afternoon,
but for the finale session with Tracey and Angelo I thought it would be cool to do it at the other end of the clock.
Yep, sunrise. This in theory was a great idea. Then I realized that I would have to be up and out of my house at 4:30.
Not even considering that Tracy would have to be up even earlier to do hair and make up. Oh well no looking back now we were committed to this other time to shoot.
I tried to get some help but no one was available that early except Dave from moving pictures he was oh so happy. Right Dave?

Anyway Im kicking this off with a small recap of all the session we did with Tracy and Angelo. They were such wonderful subjects Im sad that its over, thanks so much for everything guys, it was an awesome run.

This first session was in NYC in the meat packing district.

this was the jones beacj session we filmed our promo video during.

and of course the wedding!

finally, this was the post session under the whitestone bridge.

check us out on Best Hudson Valley Wedding Ever

I totally spaced out on this and forgot to post that we were featured on BestHudsonValleyWeddingEver.com
Stephanie and Jeff approached me after watching our promotional video that Moving pictures produced for us. They loved it so much that they wanted to blog about it! Of course I was completely ok with that. They have an awesome blog that helps with all aspects of planning a wedding in the hudson valley and beyond.
Our post is a few weeks old at this point but still worth a peak. Check it out here.

And while you are there also check out the post they did about dave and moving pictuers. Dave and the crew produced a trash the dress video that tops all of them out there! You can see that post here.

What a great blog thanks again for the feature Stephanie.

Oh and no post without a photo, here is a shot of Ron Scavetta way up in the overhead conveyers that they hang meat from in the meat packing district.

We need help!

Last week I got some good news, then some bad news, which will turn into some good news for anyone looking for a part time job : )

Good news first. Nancy our incredibly organized office assistant is opening a floral design shop in Katonah, NY. She will be providing arrangements for all events, including weddings! So that of course brings us to the bad news. She is leave us, I’m so sad…
Nancy ran this office like it was her own. And judging from that I know she is going to be incredibly successful in her new venture. We wish nancy all the best in her new career!

Nancy leaving creates a major void in the studio at a critical time for all of us. We need a new office assistant. The position is currently part time and the requirements are simple, you need to be ORGANIZED. Managing 4 artists is not easy and with almost 100 weddings this year we need help : )
On a serious note there are a few things that the new assistant should know before applying.
– Computer skills are a must. 90% of the job requires computer use. (apple computers of course)
– Quickbooks, there is some very light bookkeeping.
– Mid day hours. Nancy worked from 11-3 monday through friday.

If your interested or if you know someone that might be interested please email me and we will set up an interview. ricky@rickyrestiano.com

I’m speechless…

Moving Pictures just presented us with the second short film documenting Ronnie, Anthony and I shooting an engagement session at Jones Beach. I am blown away, Dave, Steve and Joe you have completely outdone yourselves. When I originally asked Moving Pictures to produce a short film, for the purpose of exhibiting the extent that we go to, to keep our photographs fresh and new. I knew it would be something awesome, but I never expected to get this. You guys are so good at what you do, well done!

I will shut up and let the short speak for itself. Oh and if your interested in having an alternative photo session, lets talk : )

Here are the stills from the shoot. I also need to thank Tracey and Angelo, who are getting married saturday, for allowing the MP crew to crash their second engagement session. You guys were tremendous sports we really appreciate it!

short film

Remember I said that we were shooting two short films documenting a few members of our team? Well We did it. Dave from moving pictures and his extremely talented staff of shooters and editors put together two short films. They document the photo shoot Anthony did a few posts down and then another one that Ronnie and I did at jones beach, thats not yet blogged.

Im really excited about these because it gives you all a glimpse into our world, and it spotlights the energy and enthusiasm Anthony brings to every session/wedding he does.

I want to thank Dave Venturini and Steve DiCasa for all the vision and hard work they put forth on this video.

We would love to hear your comments.
Just don’t mention the horrible belly shot of me : )

The video following Ronnie and I will be available in a few short days.

We were featured on formerlymiss.com

I had the pleasure of meeting Maria Lago of formerlymiss.com last week. Maria is an incredibly talented event planner here in NY. She is representing a few of my clients this year and I can’t wait to work with her. Having a planner on the day of the wedding free’s you up so you don’t worry about all the little details, you just have fun!

Maria’s style and approach is so different from all the other planners in the area. Take a second and check out her website and blog for some great ideas. Oh and you can see the feature on us : )

Maria’s blog

It was great meeting you Maria, thanks for the feature. We are all looking forward to an amazing wedding season with you.

The blog is back, and the office is done!

I have been away from this for some time, but the spring wedding season officially starts on Saturday so I thought now would be a great time to explain what the hell I have been doing for the past 8 weeks.

The office renovation is complete and we are finally getting back in the groove. It took a ton of work and Imagination to get this boring corporate space to look like something. I thank Catherine (my lady) for all her great ideas and help in getting all the loose ends tied up!
The office that we originally occupied has become the meeting/gallery space and the new room is where we do all the album design and color correction. I am still missing some furniture that I have not picked out yet but Its 90% done.
I would love to hear what you all think. Oh and the party will be in April I expect everyone to come : )

How cool is this plaster guy ~ladders? we dont need no stinken ladders~

Here it is, The wall art is still not up yet, but its going to be just as cool as the gallery wraps. Your going to have to come to the party to see it!

This next series of photos is of the custom desk that I had milled. The brackets are 2 inch black iron straps that Nancy’s (my assistant) father was nice enough to weld for me. He kicks ass. I basically said can you do this and he delivered them in a day. awesome.

The wood is old heart pine from a sugar factory in Brooklyn. They were posts that I had milled into 2 inch boards and simply slide them through the iron brackets. The mill I use is in Kingston, NY. Basically you tell them what kind of wood you want and they make it happen. They also milled wood for my house.

Here is the desk/counter finished.

Next up is the conference table. We wanted something that resembled an old workbench, like the one in everyones basement. But I couldn’t find anything after searching flea markets and junk shops. What I did find was on old biology room table from a high school in the Bronx. They were disposing of these tables to make room for new ones and one of the teachers had the foresight to take them and sell them on craig’s list. This table is at least 90 years old and is solid oak. At first I hated the top and wasn’t going to use it but when I flipped it up on its side to carry it I saw the bottom. It was untouched All we had to do was take it apart and flip it over, scrape off the gum and I got this. Sick right! Oh and I polyurethaned it to seal in all the nastiness. you know dissected frogs and stuff.

Thats Ronnie and Danny pretending to work!
Now for some of the details. The lights I have seen in a bunch of restaurants and I loved them so that was easy. And the perfect addition to any creative office is always a fully stocked beer fridge!
officereno13
officereno14
Ronnie and I had to completely rewire the existing lighting, with the help of an electrician of course!

There are a ton of people I need to thank Specifically Ronnie, Kerry, and Nancy. They had tons of patience with me through all of this, thanks guys!
And thats that, now to catch up on all those wedding albums : )

Oh yeah one last thing. I will be updating the blog way, way more frequently now, and we have a wedding this weekend, Orchard beach, its going to be Awesome.
